Pitcairn Island is the only inhabited island of the Pitcairn Islands, of which many inhabitants are descendants of mutineers of HMS Bounty. The closest airport being a 30-hour boat ride, on average, the Pitcairn Islands enjoy a tropical climate all year-round with relatively constant temperatures during most months of the year. As of January, 2020, the island has 47 permanent inhabitants and currently has 3 students.
